Why does my dwarf hamster do this?
Ok, so I have 2 male dwarf hamster (they r identical twin brothers....so cute anyways...) one of them likes to climb up the side of the cage and nibble on the bars. Does anyone know why he is doing this and how to stop him? I dont want him breaking a tooth or something. And his brother doesnt do it...
my hamster does this all the time. its either because they are bored or they are trying to keep their teeth short, since they grow all the time
Hamsters really love climbing and nibbling. Sometimes my hamster does this too. (He is a roborovski dwarf hamster). Well, just make sure that the bars in their cage is safe to nibble and paint-free. So that the hamster wont get poisoned by the color of the bars. You must also provide your hamster chew toys to prevent him from nibbling the bars. Tissue rolls would do fine. But make sure that there are no more tissues left on it and that it has no colors, it must be scent-free as well. The brown tissue rolls are examples. These will serve as a chew toy and sometimes, your hamster might even make a nest from it!There are also chew toys available in pet shops. (Some are flavoured) Which comes in various shapes and sizes. I give my hamster Karlie Toy n' Treat. which she loves. It is a chew toy, at the same time, a treat. You can also give him treats to nibble! Like yogurt chips (comes in different flavours), hamster fruit-flavoured biscuits, etc. Try to give him apples, carrots and broccolis too. He'll love those. Good luck with your hammies! I hope they grow as healthy little hamsters! I hope I helped!
put a little hot sauce on the main spot he nibbles on.
