My rat seems to be bleeding from her eye?

My rat seems to be bleeding from her eye?
she also has a tumor in her chest
What does this mean?
Rats can secrete a chemical that is red from their eyes and saliva. Are you sure it's blood?
If its blood take it to the vet!
i feel really bad for saying this but...

ive had 10 mice and 2 of them had tumors...
it might mean she has cancer

My two rats had this also. I know it looks scary, but it's not blood, it's a red pigment called porphyrin. It can also come out of their nose.
Usually it's caused by stress or illness, but not always. Mine were perfectly happy and mostly healthy besides a very minor breathing problem and had it for quite some time. With your rat it it's likely to be down to the tumour causing distress.
My rats were given medicine for their breathing and to help with this but it didn't make a lot of difference and was pretty expensive for an ongoing treatment. As your rat already has a tumour, you might want to discuss with your vet the best option regarding treatment.
Good luck!
My rats suffered from this.
it is normal for rats under stress or illness to secret a red pigment from their eyes and nose. dont freak out. i do hope that she has gone to a vet about the tumor though.
The red stuff coming from her eyes and nose is called Porphyrin. Its not blood. This typically happens when the rat has become ill, or is under stress. This also means the animal immune system is being compromised. As one person already said.

How large is the tumor? If its between pea sized and golf ball sized, the vet may be able to remove it. I had this done to 2 of my rescue rats and they lived another 3 years.

If you don't have the money for the operation, just make sure she's comfortable. If she seems like she's in any pain from the tumor, its time to put her down (Yes, the vet will put down rats. Its humane and less cruel than what some people do to them. It will cost between $10 and $20). Poke the tumor gently with your finger, move the bump around a bit under her skin and see if she squeaks. If she doesn't, than just keep her happy. She's fine.

The tumor WILL grow tho. That is a guarantee. I had a man come into my rescue one day with 2 very large rats. He said they were 5 years old, one had a baseball sized tumor on his side. The other had a huge gaping hole in his side and his flesh around the wound was rotting. These rats were in unbelievable pain. Needless to say, I had to euthanize them.

Just don't let her suffer. Goodluck hun. I wish you the best <3
