i have got 2 russian dwarf hamsters they always bite me in or out of the cage. muffin ( one of them ) bit and would not let go please please please can you help me i really don't know what to do!!
did you just get them?
because if you did then they are just getting used to your scent .
let them get accustomed to you and they wont bite as much.
i got mine and they wouldnt stop biting me but they still do but very rarely. now they are used to me and my behavior

Take you time with them. Let them get used to the smell and sound of you.
My little Scamp never bites me at all - good luck with yours.

Just let them get used to your sent first. Put your hand up outside the cage so they can smell it and let them come onto your hand by themselves rather than picking them up tempting with treats.
If none of this really doesn't work then hold them with gloves, that's what I had to do with my hamster at first so if it bites it wont hurt. Do this until they get used to being picked up and then once they stop biting do it without the glove.
I got a 'male' hamster that turned out to be a pregnant female and she bit alot but after she had had the babies she was really friendly. If you got a male and a female, maybe it's pregnant! although I doubt it.

Wash your hands because, especially if you have just finished eating something, there is a scent on your hands so it may smell it and have an urge to bite you. Also hes curious, its a new environment and he doesn't know whats going on. Give him some time to adjust. He should stop after a few days of adjusting.
I love hamsters, getting another one tonight!
When did you get them? If you got them recently then they could just be getting used to you and you shouldn't pick them up just yet, start by just putting your hand in their cage with some food on. To help stop the biting you should rub your hands in their bedding or sawdust as this helps them as they know this smell, otherwise they may think you are some food as they have very bad eyesight. Gradually let them walk onto your hands on their own accord and then you can slowly try picking them up, make sure they feel safe in your hand though. If they are older hamster do the same but slightly slower, give them a chance to adjust to you. Its like you being in a world with only one person beside you, would you let a giant pick you up? Lol, i know this may sound silly but its true. Give them your trust!
Oh my God!!! I had russian dwarf hamsters and one of mine was called Muffin!! Aww that brought back memories for me thank you!
My hammys (and especially Muffin) would ALWAYS bite me, not out of fear, she just always thought I was food! She would just nibble me without even smelling to see who or what I was!
I tried to overcome this by always washing my hands with the same soap before handling her, and I never fed her titbits from my hands because that only made her do it more!
If it's out of fear, I would sit with your hand in the cage for a little bit at a time, and talk quietly to them, let them get used to the sound of your voice. Then when they are feeling more confident around you, you can start to stroke them, then eventually try and pick them up :o)
