i have two guinea pigs (i'd say a little ova seven months old.) how long do they usually live? ive heard tey kood live up to eight yeaars

I have had many guinea pigs and the average life span is 5 to 6 years but some to live to 8 years. They are so worth the short life span though, they are so loving and caring for you, they are just little buddies.
If they are well cared for by a knowledgable loving adult then its usually 6-7 plus years. The average people who buy these so called "pocket pets" are impulse buyers for their kids who dont take proper care of them and end up letting them get sick or breeding them and that shortens their live dramatically...Then their life span is more like 2-3 years. The people at the average pet store are paid $7 and hour and dont usually care about the animals or who they go to or how they are taken care of. The "care sheets" are terribly written and have nothing but misinformation. The cages are grossly undersized and almost all the treats, toys and foods will cause your pets life span to reduce dramatically. i believe its 6 to 8 years, so dont worry you have a lot more time with them =)

The average is 4-7 years. Some do live longer, but many live only a couple of years due to improper care (inadequate housing, crap diet, no vet care etc.)
