I bought 2 male chinese dwarf hamsters (brothers) from petsmart about a month ago. today i noticed the one had bloody front paws, couldnt open its eyes all the way, and its coat seemed oily. the other one is completely healthy. Any ideas what might be the matter/how i can help? weve been using the same type of food and bedding from the beginning
I don't know if this is the same for you, but here's what happened to me:
I had a Chinese Dwarf Hamster, and i put SCENTED wood chips in his cage. Apparently, these types of Hamsters are allergic to the scented wood chips. The same thing happened to my hamster that happened to yours. So I just went to regular old non-scented wood chips, and he was back to normal within a week.

Any chance they have been fighting? Sometimes hamsters who have always gotten along will suddenly stop getting along and one will bully the other.
