Can an adult Nile monitors bite really crush bone?
i just bought a baby nile monitor and i know they average 4-6 feet as an adult with a rare 8 foot every once in a while. ive heard tons of controversy about this monitor and i obviously know its temperament and im not afraid of getting bit at all but im wondering if an adults bite can really crush bone as i have heard on some websites.
I highly doubt that it could crush bones, maybe depending on the bone it could break it but I highly doubt that. The key is tempering your monitor so that way its more of a house cat than a dragon.
yes. its is also possible they may cut off parts of your body(while your still alive)

Edit: Sorry. I thought your talking about crocodiles. very sorry.

I think it could crush the bones in your hands, your toes, maybe your arms. But they could certainly crush your flesh and cause damage. I had a baby nile monitor for a short time. It was -wild-! But it kept getting out and managed to kill itself. I hope you have better luck. They look beautiful. They also scratch like nothing else. And mine seemed to forget me from one day to the next and never tamed down.
