Are red-eyed tree frogs good pets? What other herps make good pets?
I have a leopard gecko and a bearded dragon right now, but I have to sell the dragon because I won't have room for her 70 gallon tank when I move into an apartment soon. I'm going to the reptile expo this month, and want to see about getting some new pets. Can anyone suggest any to me? They can't need a tank bigger than a long or a tall 20 gallon tank.

I wanted to get either one or two crested gecko's, and either 2 or 4 red-eyed tree frogs. I chose them because they don't need big tanks, special lights, or a whole lot of crickets, and they are fairly friendly and can be held. The bearded dragon was a little much for me, it took me a while to set up the lights, and feeding her is annoying, she'll eat like 3-5 dozen crickets every second day, plus her tank is huge.

I heard though that red-eyed tree frogs aren't that great? Anyone had them and can tell me about them? Can anyone suggest another herp that might be better for me? I'd prefer them not to need a lot of special care, the only thing for me about the crested gecko's and tree frogs is that they need it humid, but I can handle that. Thanks.
well if you are specifacally looking for a lizard then you can get an african fat tailed gecko, they are tame, nocturnal, stay about 8''in. and dont eat a whole lot. The have such a basic set up too. A 10 - 15 gallon terrarium with paper towel substrate, a heating pad, a water dish, and a hide will be the perfect setup. If you can get a snake corn snakes, and ball pythons make great beginner snakes. Hope i helped!!
