Bearded Dragons also need proper lighting. A UVB light is needed, with two options being available, Fluorescent strip bulbs or mercury vapor bulbs. These bulbs have variable ranges of UVB output; owners must ensure proper distance from bulb to the basking spot so the lizard can properly absorb the rays. Bulbs are typically replaced every 6 months[11]. Without adequate UVB the Dragon will develop Metabolic Bone Disease and not eat as much. A Dragon needs between 12 and 14 hours of daylight; much less or more causes problems with their circadian rhythms and makes them lethargic and sick.[12]

For future reference, www.wikipedia.org is the best website to get answers to pretty much any question. It's an online encyclopedia.

Hope this helps.

PS, I posted the website link on bearded dragons at the bottom for you.

DO NOT use heating pads or heating rocks. They will get burned by it. just use a normal large flat rock or a brick under a heat lamp. Use the heat lamp on during the day, and if the tank stays around 68 degrees or more farenheit during the night, then thats fine, but if not use a night bulb. Also i think they need UVB lights so if the tank is outside, fine but if not then you need to get that. You can but the acual bulb at most pet stores, look for the brand Exo-Terra.

I believe their nighttime temp is about 70F so you might not need heat at night. An easily found mercury vapor bulb is the Solar Glo bulb. Mercury vapor bulbs give UVA, UVB and heat. If you don't use that bulb I would recomment a 150-200 watt ceramic heat emitter plus a UVB striplight.
