Do geckos bite? i got a lepard gecko and im wondering if they bite?
i got a lepard gecko(juvinal) and when ever i try to pick her up it looks like shes gonna bite me. and i was wondering do they bite and if they do, does it hurt?
number one: yes they can bite, but it does not hurt at all. its like slightly squeezing your skin.

number two: its raising its tail, gecko's do this for two reasons, nuber one is a defense mechanism, so a Predator thinks that's the lizards head/body and attacks that. the gecko can then detach the tIL AND RUN OFF. number two, is a hunting device. it shakes its tail AND raises its head. the shaking of the tail distracts there prey so they can strike.

number three: if the gecko is raising its tail at you, your simple scaring it. be slow and gentle. DO NOT grasp him/her from behind this makes them think your a Predator. stroke them three times before you pick them up, do this every time and they will so learn whats going to happen.
gecko owner for YEARS
Any animal with a mouth is capable of biting when it feels threatened, and since she's getting used to her new home, she's probably pretty stressed right now and more likely to bite. i copied this blurb below from a good site you should check out.

If the leopard gecko is picked up and falls, this is one way a leopard gecko will feel threatened enough to turn and bite. In a situation like this, it can hold on for varying periods of time. The adults are strong enough to break skin and cause some pain. It is not common though if your leopard gecko is cared for and handled properly. When they seem scared or just like they need to be left alone then it's best to just take a hint from your gecko and leave them alone. When the leopard gecko is new to you, it's best to not handle them unless you have to (for 3-7 days). It's best for your new pet to get used to the new environment first before you attempt to handle them.
Does she open her mouth at you? hehe my berber skink use to do that and would actually bite you when if you gave him the chance eventually hge stoppped.... just keep handling her and she will get use to you and dont worry it doesnt hurt :P she doesnt have teeth and the most you will feel is a slight pressure :)

they can but it doesn't hurt mine does if it feels thretened and it's pretty big but once you pick him up he's ok and doesn't so not realy the best thing you could do is try to pick it up and if it bites you it bites you so just try to
mine never bit me and when someone elses did it felt like a tiny pinch not painful at all! It may look like its gonna bite but most likely it wont dont worry i felt th same way as u wen i got mine!
