What kind of turtle do i have?
I just caught a turtle in a ditch by my house. I brought it home and wash the mud off of it. I wanna keep it as a pet but i don't know what kind of turtle is it or what it eat or what kind of environment it like to live in. Its a fresh water turtle. Help me, this is some picture of it.

thats not a painted. Painted turtles are marked with red and yellow.. your guy there is in all likelyhood a Yellow Bellied Slider. they darken on their carapace with age and if its as big as it looks its a adult

keeping it as a pet is not a wise idea. Adult wild turtles rarely adjust to life in a tank and refuse to eat. They go into hibernation/ shutdown mode and will starve themselves to death in a fairly short amount of time. Let that big old guy go and continue to make turtles in the wild where it belongs. If you want a turtle as a pet, research, chose a type and get all the set up things you need, then get a hatchery turtle.
I think its a paint. You will need a large aquarium about 55 gallons or bigger. have it half full With water and some rocks so he can rest. you will also need a heat lamp over the area with the rocks. he will eat turtle pellets you can get them at any pet store also you can put in some small feeder fish that he can eat. you will need a very good filter maby a dioton turtles are very dirty u will need to change the watter out once a week. Make sure u dont use fresh tap watter it has chlorine and other harm full chemicals. The pet stores will have this stuff called Neutral Regulator that will take care of the chlorine chloramine and ammonia. Hope that helps if u have any more questions just ask and I will try to help.
i think it could be a painted turtle
look at the picture on the website; see if it matches
