Red ear slider turtles are infact a good pet. I suggest buying one as a baby.
with baby turtles you must worry about diseases they have and bacteria on them.
I bought mine when it was smaller than a toonie(for non canadians a bit bigger than most 25cent pieces.
when buying a smaller one you can make a great tank fund. start off with a 15-20 gallon tank. remember this depends on the size of your turtle then as your turtle grows you can save and buy a real nice tank. i reccomend an underwater filter and a "turtle dock" you can buy them at most pet stores.
they do take some time to get used to you. I had mine for about 6 years now hes about the size of a donut. he is very tame now and will come out and walk around in my hand.

Sure if you want a pet that can give you salmonella. Water turtles are not a good pet unless you don;'t plan to handle them at all. They require much more care than you would think and they will quickly grow out of a any but a 50 gal or larger tank if they are getting fed right. I would go for a tortoise rather than a turtle, much easier to keep clean, they eat veggies and fruit and don't need special food that you have to go to the pet store to get.
Yes but I recommend only getting 1 or 2 because These turtles Grow fast and They make alot of (mess).

In my experiences Red Eared sliders haven't been very friendly. It is also A LOT of work to keep their tank clean. I have a land turtle and highly recommend them, they are much easier to maintain.
Used to have a water turtle before my land one, also my cousin had a red eared slider.
If you have all of the necessary materials on hand, then yes it is a low maintenance pet, but if you still have to buy all the supplies, then it can get messy with the water conditions and it also depends on the number
Yes but not a hands on type of pet, kinda like having a fish. if you have an aquarium big enough and take care of it it will live for many years.
Red ear sliders are very good pets and they stay small-I have one myself and they are sooooo cool.
