How do i feed baby turtles?
when I got my baby turtles they wouldn't go near the pellets either. But they were wild caught. Their a little picky at first. It's important you try to get something in them. Lean meat like chicken(small amounts only) Meal worms or something like that are very high in protein and they'll wiggle around and entice them to eat. Once they get older they'll eat anything. But be careful and don't let them get too fat.
Like the 1st person said turtles can be very picky at first. So try feeding them something else like veg tables (washed and clean)
My turtles love to eat
-Carrots
-Lettuce
-Dandelion leaves
-kale
-squash
As they older you can feed them fish, but it has to be raw without food seasoning the kind of fish my turtles like to eat is tuna. You can also feed them shrimp but do some research first on which type of shrimp is best for turtles.
You can also feed them:
-Crickets
-Worms
-Snails
A healthy diet should be a varied one :
* for hatchlings (feed every day) - 50% greens (veggies or aquatic plants) and 50% protein , such as pellets and live prey.
* for mature turtles (feed every 2-3 days) - up to 75% greens and not more than 50% protein , such as pellets and live prey. Adult turtles SHOULD opt for more veggies than protein.
