how do i get my horse to do this?

How do i get my horse to do this?
i want my mare to move away from leg pressure a bit more so my turns are better, because i want to barrel race. When i press my left leg into her when turning right, or vice versa, she takes it as a "LETS GO!" and takes off! Also, how can i get my transitions between trot and loping smoother? she does this wierd super rough bouncry trot that goes all over the place and i have to push her into a lope with my legs. I dont know weather to sit the trot or post it, because ur suppost to sit the trot a few strides before you lope.
Okay what you want to do is when you push your LEFT leg in and want her to go right pull the rein slightly right and hold them in the WOAH/STOP position So she can Take off. Same thing if you want her to go left pull right and push with your left.

SIT DONT POST.......
Shower,Jumper,Barrel RCR, Everything! :D
i dont want to be rude..but you are doing it all wrong :(
turning to the right...use your right leg to move her out and away from your leg.
Turning left, use your left leg.
So you are telling her to move off your leg. soo dont press with your left leg when turning rite. ;)

sit the trot before you lope. it is easier for her. find your seat bones...do not be bouncing all over the place out of control pulling on her mouth (we all go threw this!!)
take some lunge lessons, no sturup work and find your seat bones and a comfortable seat in the sitting trot. you will find it MUCH easier and faster/smoother trot--lope transition if you are not bouncing all over and hurting her back--she will enjoy loping more!
dressage rider--green horse learning to canter..horrible transitions and we got threw it!!!
i'm not sure if this will help, but i had a horse who every time i accidentally brushed my heel against them they would take off at a mad gallop. i'm not sure what your mare is like, but my gelding was pretty lazy, and so i'd make him stay at the gallop, and then bring it down into a nice, collected canter. eventually he figured out when he over-reacted, then he had to work a lot more than if he hadn't.
as far as you're second problem- i'd post the trot for a bit before it, and try to pick up the lope at a corner in your arena, if you ride in an arena, or circle for a little bit before you pick up the canter to encourage her to pick up the right lead. it could be that she's uncomfortable about picking up the correct lead.
best of luck!
