Please help, horse buying question???
I currently have my gelding for sale, as I want to buy a new horse. I have found the perfect one and ridden her a couple of times. My parents say that I should sell my horse first and then get the other one, as I can't really afford to keep 2 (I could probs stretch it, but yer) But this one is now being advertised on the internet and I am worried that another person will buy her before I get to. Should i buy her now before selling my other one, or do I wait to sell him and miss out on a great horse???? Thanks
Talk to the owner of your "dream horse" and see if you can put down a deposit to hold the horse for a period of, say 1-2 months.

Have you had the vet check the new horse out yet? Have that done before you make any decisions. This will also buy you some time before you have to make a decision on whether to purchase or not.

Can you lease your other horse while waiting to sell it?
Personal decision you have to make. If you really like the other horse...so much that you don't think you can find another one very quickly as good as this one than buy it. But...do you have the room for it? Do you want to feed and take care of two horses? That's your choice. Not ours to tell you. I usually am in the middle of either breaking, training, or in process of selling about 6 roping horses at a time. I have room for about 8 though so it may be a little different situation than yours.
i would talk to the owner of the horse you are looking at and see if they will work with you...maybe you could make payments while you sell your other horse. if you can stretch it and pay for 2 horses then go for it but just remember the economy isnt great right now and it may take a while to sell your horse. you could also see if anyone wants to lease your horse from you that way they would be paying for him and you would just be paying for the new horse. good luck
