why does my fish tank have hair and all sorts of sh*t in it?

its like a week old and i cleaned all my rocks and EVERYTHING. i have 2 fish now and i just did a water change and all this crap has come up.
its tropical tank. my filter "works" i think. but it doesnt seem to be sucking in much of all the stuff. its the right size for the tank and everything but theres clumps of hair and.. yucky crap all through it. and i just cleaned out my filter. please help

physical hair? your cat may be trying to go fishing then... anything else... it's normal...

get a lid for it to stop hair from pets and other stuff to get in there
