i have a 55 gallon tank, i have 2 neon tetras, (plan on getting more, or selling them) 4 mollies, 1 red tailed shark, and 2 plecos, i would like to get a parrot fish, or pufferfish, do any of these fish get along? what fish would have to go? what goes with a Blood Parrot? what goes with a Puffer fish? i have raised brackish water puffers, (green spotted). so i know what they eat. i have been told not to get parrot fish because they are man made hybrids, but why does that matter?
sorry no puffers, they're nasty little things. a red parrot might be okay.. what kind of plecos/mollies? your tetras would be eaten by the red parrot [thats what happened to mine anyway] depending on the size/strain of your plecos you're pretty much stocked and can't fit much else.. how territorial and aggressive is your shark + how big at the moment??
parrots can be agressive...i'd recommend getting rid of the mollies and the neons and making it a parrot tank. you could also have small south american cichlids suck as firemouths or convicts. GOOD LUCK!
i have 6 tanks
Parrot fish are a medium sized semi-agressive cichlid, they will eat small tankmates like neons. They could live with your other fish, if the mollies are the larger ones anyway.
Puffer are a no go. Most of them need brackish (partly salt) water and are very agressive and nippy. They will kill most tankmates.
Parrots are a man made hybrid, personally I think they look like deformed mutants, but it's a personal choice whether you buy them or not. Their deformed shape can make them more vulnerable to swim baldder problems as they get bigger.
