i want to make a amazon theam aqarium but dont have the money to buy costly drift wood and ordament ,could i just use my native trees????? and branches to decorat and if yes how would i clean them?????? (wild trees and sticks )
Naw i think you should go to a store and buy simple stuff like i bought a small fake log with two flowers on it for like 5 dollars it was nice for cheap
This isn't a good idea because they will rot in the water and this will cause amonia which is deadly to fish.
I wouldn't use anything with leaves - that could be dangerous. But you could use sticks - if you boiled them first - but you'd have to change them often.
You can get LIVE plants at the fish store for pretty cheap.
Also - check thrift stores and kijiji.com

I wouldn't recommend it, as fresh cut items will rot in your tank.
If you don't have the money for driftwood, why not plastic? Lovely and it won't stain your water.
Or, you can imply Amazon without actually going as far as driftwood. A black-backed tank will give the hint of darker, river water (*implying the stain of tanins and also really popping reds as they contrast against the black) Before you set up your tank, either tape a black background to it or take it outside along with a couple of towels you don't care about, some newspaper, masking tape, and a can of black spray paint. Having tried spraypainting.... I'll never go back to backgrounds (*no nasty airbubbles or tape peeling!). Set your tank down carefully on the towels to prevent chips or scratches. What you do is line the tape at the edges you DON'T want to be painted. Then, cover the rest of the tank in newsprint, taping it down as well to ensure no stray spray paint hits the sides you want clear. Then, spray paint evenly and let dry for ample time.
You can then use taller plants and rocks to complete the effect.
