I found a 5 gallon tank for sale in my area. It's only $10, so im a little skeptical. If I go and look at it, what things should I look for? My betta is in a 1.5 gallon tank now, so i want to upgrade to a larger thank. Thanks!
As long as it holds water and doesn't leak it should be fine. It's good to put a water plant like bamboo in your betta's tank too.
Look for any cracks or damage and ask the current owner to fill it up so you can check for leaks. and other things like does the light work, just make sure it all functions ok
Check for damage to the glass and also to the rim, which is the weakest part of the tank. Don't be put off by a few small scratches. Also have a close examination of the silicone sealant, there should be no large gaps, especially on the base.
look for cracks and leaks or any rust if none is thear it will be fine.
Is it a second hand tank and just the tank or does it come with accessories? If it's just the tank you can by a new ten gallon from walmarts or petsmart for about the same price, $15 after tax at most.
