American toad tadpole questions!!!!!!?

American toad tadpole questions!!!!!!?
i have a few tadpoles (4) that i got from the local marsh i believe they are american toads. i currently have them in a 1.5 gallon tank with a filter. obviously i will be moving them into a bigger tank when they get bigger but this is all i have for now. i did use dechlorinated water that i keep on hand for my fish tank as well as half of the pond water that i took them home with. i have some grass that i pulled up from the muddy banks of the marsh in there with them. currently i am feeding them fish flakes and i can see that they are eating the grass as well. so here are my questions.

1) do i need to do water changes even though i have a filter and if yes how often

2) i can see them sucking away on the grass, should i still consider feeding them boiled lettuce and spinach along with the fish flakes?

and any other tips on how to care for them would be fantastic!

1. Yes, you still need to do weekly water changes. It isn't absolutely necessary but it helps a lot. (It keeps the PH at the right level) When you do the changes make sure to use a water conditioner.

2.Yes, it would be best to feed them both lettuce and fish flakes. You may not have to but they may not get all needed nutrients from only 1 type of food.
