Is it okay to keep my betta in a big bowl?
I have a red female betta that i bought not to long ago,and i was just wondering is it okay to keep her in a 1/2 gallon bowl or should i put her in a small tank better.she seems happy and active to me,she seems to be fine(behavior and mood wise),so what do you guys think?should i keep in the bowl or should i upgrade to a small aquarium tank?
I think you should keep your betta in a tank, it will be happier and it will breathe easier. Keeping her in a bowl is dangerous because the bowl does not have a filter, so a lot of her waste will sit there and can get infested with parasites a lot easier than a tank. I agree that you should get a heater, but that can be a little risky; some fish tend to swim towards the heater and get burned which is fatal. I don't suggest you put another fish in there with her because bettas are very violent. When you do transfer her to the tank, you should get: water conditioner, medicine (preferably melafix, which you should be able to find in your local pet store), and aquarium salt if needed. Good luck with your new fish. ^_^
The Labyrinth is located above the gills and consists of skin folds, called Lamelli, which are filled with blood vessels, through which oxygen can be absorbed from the air. This feature allows the Labyrinth fish to survive in water with very low oxygen levels. Labyrinthfish are very undemanding

A betta is in the Labytinth family which means they dont need Aeration and filtration ...BUT keeping them in a aerated tank will produce a happier fish...
Definitely the tank.
Get a tank with a heater and filter, if you have a big enough one you can even add some other fish in with her.

Good Luck
I think that she should be fine in the big bowl. As long as she has room to swim around and she gets fed. She should be fine.
1/2 gallon is not a big bowl
get a 10 gallon tank with a heater and a filtration system and cycle it first
i keep mine in a tank, i hate seeing them in those little bowls, i feel bad for them
get an aquarium, fish bowls are cruel.
