All right, I don't want to accidentally do something wrong and he dies. On the little cup he came in it said, "Feed 2-3 times per week" but on the directions of his Betta Fish Food it says, "Feed 3-4 pellets twice daily." I don't want to be over-feeding or under-feeding my fish. So which is correct? And how many of the tiny pellets should I feed?
unfortunately you're going to get mixed responses on here too...
just keep in mind that betta stomachs are only as big as their eyes. so while a few pellets seems like a little to us, it's a lot to them. 4-6 pellets a day skipping one day a week (cleaning day is usually the day I skip since picky eaters can get upset by the tank cleaning and refuse to eat for that day anyway). now whether you make that one meal or split it into two meals a day is up to you.
good luck with your new betta :)

Oh, my god. I can't believe anyone would say 2 - 3 times a week! That's starving him. Everything eats at least once a day except snakes! It's probably not a good idea to listin to anyone who would put a fish in a cup anyway! Do whatever it says on the food bottle. If it says 3 - 4 twice a day, that would mean 6 - 8 once a day. 7 is in between so I would feed 7 a day.
I have a Betta and I feed him 2 flakes every other day. On the bottle of food it says to feed him 2 times a day 2 flakes, but the people at the pet store said to feed him only every other day. Im going with what the store said and ive had my fishie for 1/2 a year and he is still swimming!
I feed my betta one or two dried worms in the morning, and one or two pellets before I go to bed. I almost never find food remains.
As others have said, you'll get mixed responses. It really depends on you and your fish. Remember it's better to space out smaller meals, than it is to feed a large meal once a day.
Experiment and you'll find what works best. :)
