Rarely seen dogs....?

It's kind of funny because you think after the movie 101 Dalmations, a lot of people would have a Dalmation but I NEVER see them where I live and I think that they're gorgeous dogs. Ive heard that they have been given the name of 'stupid' from lack of obedience. What do you think about Dalmations? And what other dogs do you never see in public?

I think that BECAUSE of 101 dalmatians, that particular breed was overbred to the point of neurotisism.

I rarely see corgi's, bouvier des flandres, newfs, duck tolling retrievers, etc. because everybody just buys labs. Boring.

Same w/every other fad that comes along;everybody & their uncle rushes to buy the current "must have" breed or toy or brand of beer/candy/electronic gizmo/color-of-Tshirt....whether it's right or not.

I was thinking of this a while back, in all my life I have never seen a boxer. Where I live I see no big dogs what so ever, alot of old people around here and they all have small dogs, my dog is the biggest for miles lol

I don't have an opinion on Dalmatians, never really come into contact with one, don't know any one with one, so I can't really say much.

Remember the old movie Turner and Hooch? Hooch was a Dogue de Bordeaux (sp?) I half-expected a boom in demand for them after that movie released, but I saw only a few around. Possibly because of their enormous cost and size, but still ...

omg same! I havent seen a dalmatian ever! And i see so many dogs becuase im around them like 24-7 and i havent seen a dalmation in public..since....well...EVER!

Great Pyrenees and their cousins, Akbash, Maremna and there are a few more, but you rarely see them.

I've noticed that too. They're certainly being bred though. The UKKC is always listing litters of them.

I never see Saint Bernards. I don't know how popular they were after Beethoven came out but I'm guessing there was a big increase in the interest.

The main breeds I see are Westies, Labs, JRTS and Chihuahuas.

whoever said labs are boring must have never had one. The reason why they are so popular is because they are such good dogs!!!

but anyway, i never see briards, havanese, and as funny as it may sound, i have never seen anyone with a beagle.

i have never seen a dalmation either.

My dads friend had a dalmatian. It was too friendly and had a tail like a whip, it freaked me out.
I never see any neapolitan mastiffs here.
