We recently bought a puppy which was a bad idea as we cannot look after it anymore as after buying it it emerged that people in the house were allergic and we do not have the time to be with the puppy 24/7, please help, i dont know what to do.
If you bought the puppy from a reputable breeder, the breeder should be willing to take the puppy back and give you a refund. If not, you will need to find a new home for the puppy or possibly take it to a shelter - preferrably a no-kill shelter.
Exactly the reason pet stores should not exist, if that's where you got him/her. If a breeder just take him back a.s.a.p. hopefully they'l take him..You 1.) encouraged stores to keep buying from puppy mills to supply them, 2.) added to the number of so many dogs/cats at the shelter b/c of wayy too many ppl just like your family. if you didin't have the time to care for a pup WHY did you get him/her?? you need more than help--you need common sense.. which is too bad for the pup since you didin't have before making him/her attached to your family and now you "changed your mind".

If you bought your pup from a reputable breeder, the breeder will take the puppy back. If you got your dog from a BYB or pet store, they probably won't take it back. Search the internet for the breed rescues near you. Just type in "(name of the breed your dog is) Rescue in (your state)" and click search. Contact the rescue people and ask if they can take the puppy. Breed rescue people work very hard to find good homes for dogs. If your dog is, for example, a mix of poodle and Shih tzu, you can still try the purebred poodle and Shih tzu rescues. The worst they can say is no.
Try Craig's list but make sure you put a amount so you will be giving him/her to someone who wants him not just because it is free. Even if you do not accept the money. I had to do that with my potbelly pig she is now very happy and the new owner emails me pictures often. I did not accept the money I just told her to buy my piggy something with it instead. Just remember this is a live creature with feelings so don't do anything rash and stay away from shelters that kill.
