My thirteen year old terrior has a big bump on the side of her neck?
My thirteen year old terrior has a big bump on the side of her neck. I first believed it to be a spider bit, because you can see a little hole at the top of the bump and she loves to get into small spaces to sleep in the back yard. That was over two weeks ago and the bump is still there. It's the size of a small rubber ball you get from a quater machine. Would a spider bite leave a bump this size for so long? The bump is soft at the touch if that information helps. It was bleeding a little a few days ago, but I think thats because she scrathed it. Any help out there?
ANY BUMP SHOULD always be seen by a vet, especially being an older dog. TAKE HER TO THE VET ASAP...COULD BE A CYST OR WORST SUCH AS A TUMOR OR AN INFECTION
It could be from a spider bite and turned into an abscess. If that's the case she would need to see a vet. It may have to lanced open and drained and she would need to be on antibiotics.
LVT
Oh for heavens sake take the dog to the vet. You noticed the lump over two weeks ago and haven't done a thing about it.

All lumps that don't go away in a day or so should be examined by a vet. It could be a lipoma or it could be a malignant tumor.
take it to the vet if you care about the dog. i think you are just looking for an answer here to save you from taking the dog to the vet. if someones answer convinces you its a bugbite, and it ends up being a tumor that prevents the dog from breathing, then i think you might have wished you took it to the vet in the first place
Sounds like a tumor to me. Take her to the vet. There may be something they can do, but if you wait too long, it could be too late.
Sounds like it could be a Brown Recluse bite. Their corrosive venom causes an abcess and quite a bit of swelling in the first stages of infection.Usually as the swelling begins to ebb a pencil eraser size hole begins to form at the point of entry. But seeing that she is older you might want to keep an eye on her make sure she doesnt have fever and you can put hydrogen peroxide on the wound twice a day if you want to lessen the odds of a secondary infection.Spider bites can take weeks to heal.
Brown Recluses hang out in very secluded places especially in basements, garages, and barns.Usually the underside of a bench, table or shelf.Places like that.
I'm sorry but his going to die, I had the same problem with my dog last year.
