Yesterday I took my dog to the vet after she had encountered an incident where she did something to her back after running. She was diagnosed with intervertebral disk disease. The doctor told us that she would have to be confined to a kennel or small space for 6 weeks and must be monitored carefully when outside using the bathroom. We were also informed that after two weeks she will be feeling normal again but still must remain confined for 4 more weeks. Today is day 2 and she is feeling so out of it, she can stand up and can only walk a few steps. Is this normal and will she be progressively be getting better?

You are lucky, mine could'nt move her back legs at all and was totally paralyzed and we had to put her down. We were going to spend the $ on surgery but the tests concluded her chances were slim of being able to move again. If shes moving thats great, some ppl say that they come out of it with steriod shots I wish we could have been so lucky. We miss her terribly, but just got another 2 weeks ago and know now some of the signs. Hope she gets better they are fragile little things.
