How do i retrain my 1 1/2 yr old lab/pit mix!!?? please help i don't want to get rid if her?
hi yahoo community! I have a beautiful doggie and i just moved in with my girlfriend, i used to live with a buddie of mine and it was in a house with a yard and she never pooped or peed inside the house and i would leave her in my room for hours on end and i was actually always amazed at how long she could hold it, about a month ago i moved in with my girlfriend into a townhouse and she has been fine untill about a week ago, she has started to pee inside and poop, and we take her out constantly, but whenever we leave like tonite for example we left her alone for 45mins to go grocery shopping (and we took her out before we left and she wen pee and poo) when we came back home she pooped while we were gone and shredded a bag up, i dont know what to do anymore and im lost as far as knowing what to do to get to stop this, if anyone has any info that may help i would love to hear from you, thanks i greatly appreciate it!!

sounds like she is mad for being left behind and is misbehaving. Try crating her when you leave her alone and see if that doesn't help. If you crate her once or twice it may be all it takes to make her stop this behavior. My dog did this too, and all I had to do was sit the crate up and put it in the living room and he behaved when left alone the next time.
Well since you just moved into different place, my guess would be that there was another animal in there and the floors weren't cleaned with the proper cleaner. You have to remember that their noses are more sensitive than ours and they can smell any leftover residue. You need to get to the pet store and get a pet stain and odor remover and clean the area that she has been going to the bathroom in. If this doesn't work it may be behavioral. I would then get her a crate and put her in it whenever you go out. You have to make it a happy experience though and give her a treat when she goes into the crate. Just make sure you take her out before she goes in, and as soon as you get home. Most dogs don't go to the bathroom where they sleep. Good luck.
Sounds like your dog has some anxiety issues going on.

You said that you just moved in with your girlfriend a month ago, your dog may not be fully adjusted to the surroundings just yet. Therefore she's acting out. The shredded up bag? My dog would shred the last thing I touched before leaving the house, from a magazine, to a credit card bill, to the remote to my fine Italian leather heels. I talked to my vet who recommended that I buy some sturdy chew toys and a treat ball. He spends hours trying to lick out peanut butter from his one treat ball and the other dispenses treats as he rolls the ball around. It keeps his mind stimulated while I am gone. Eventually he grew out of the stage.

Are you spending enough time with her? (Your dog, not your girlfriend) Your dog may feel rejected and act out because she's upset.
