I have a beautiful sweet masstif mix neuterd male around 100LBS. He just hit 6 years old and in the past few weeks I have noticed him having a hard time getting up after a nap. His back end sometimes fails him and I have to help him. Its usually only that bad if he has had allot of exercise. When he was young around 1 I noticed his left hip would pop when he would jump on or off of something. The vet said he had a 50% displasia in that hip and it would need replaced. Well I don't have the money for that kind of surgery but I will not allow him to be in pain. He is on glucosamine and msm with "chondroiten sp?" I know I need to get him on better food but I don't know wich one to choose. I am a single mom on a very fixed income. I have looked into raw food. But I would need to find an affordable brand that is ready made. Or a quality dry food. Is there anything else I can do myself? Heat massage anything? What about supplements? Can he take the same supplements that are made for humans. I have also heard that feeding one cooked egg a day can help. His coat isn't shiny he sheds way more than he should and I can see he is in pain. I want to do everything in my power to extend his life and raise the quality of his life. But I can't spend thousands. Please help.
