considering that a pug is lazy and does whatever you do and a jack russell is somewhat kind of calm is it ok?
It really depends on the individual dogs. Breed can give you a general idea of what to expect from a dog, but each dog is an individual entity. The only way to know for sure if it will work is to try it.
Probably so, but, a Jack Russell terrier is a wide open, energetic ball of fur! I, personally, have never seen a somewhat calm Jack Russell!
