Why do breeders breed from there dogs so much?
why do breeders breed from there dogs so often because they nearly all say they dont do it for the money. obviously the top dogs in the show world get bred from. but for the average pet home wanting a dog do we realy need so many puppys around. would it be better without all these breeders everywhere, should it be a bit more controlled. maybe then the pounds would empty out !!!!!!!
i have a few reasons
1=dogs are some of the greatest pets.
2=they make the person selling them lots of money
3=they are fun to have as a pet
4=most people love them
5=they are flufy as a puppy!

hope this helped
burnt ice uchiha!
You've generalized it a bit too much... breeders, reputable breeders are good, they are out to make their chosen breed better, and do NOT breed back to back.
What you're on about are Back Yard Breeders, breeders that do breed back to back, and are just for the money.
Responsible breeds don't!!! And in the UK, we can't register a litter from the same ****** more than once in a 12-month period. This goes some way to stop people (who register their puppies) breeding on consecutive seasons. However this doesn't stop the BYBs and Puppy Farms from abusing their bitches. And as registrations are done on trust, what's on a registration application ain't necessarily the truth!!! Talking about bitches here.

Most responsible stud owners are selective in the bitches they allow their studs to serve. But there are some who make a very good living out of their stud dogs!!! Especially if they become very successful in the ring.

Unfortunately, for now, we live in a 'free world' and there's not a lot that can be done, other than licensing these Puppy Mill establishments, to prevent the over exploitation of brood bitches. And even then there are always ways round rules and regulations. Sadly.

Responsible breeders don't say they make money from their litters!! Most of us are more than happy if we break even on a litter, and have a good puppy to continue our bloodlines with.
This is a typical misconception of dog breeding.

First off, what's in the shelter? In most places across the US, you will find older mixed breeds. Occasionally an older purebred. You'll find dogs with significant health or behavioral issues that are essentially 'unadoptable' by most of the general public. What you WON"T find is purebred puppies. Many shelters have found to keep up with the demand they need to import puppies (what everyone wants) from the few places that have too many -- places like north carolina, west virginia, & some parts of pennsylvania. Some even import from overseas to get dogs for adoption from their shelters!

Puppy mills crank out a lot of puppies, but still you seldom see purebred pups in shelters. So the puppy mills, as awful as some are (and some aren't awful...not the breeding I'd ever do, but if you look around with an open mind you'd find that the horror stories we see are the exception and not the rule, there are large scale breeders for the pet buying public who actually have big clean facilities with vets on staff and plenty of kennel help. Still not my cup of tea, but not the filthy conditions we've all though is routine). So the dogs in the shelters aren't coming from the mills either.

So where ARE the dogs in shelters coming from?

Mixed breed puppies that are seen occasionally are from the families who never spayed their dogs and they crank out puppies for the kids. These AREN'T breeders in my book. They are from the people who do purposeful mixes because they think it might be "fun" to cross a chi with a fox terrier. Right....

The vast majority of dogs are in shelters not because of "overpopulation" but because of owners not training their dogs, not caring for their dogs as a family member and simply not wanting to bother with their dog anymore. It's human laziness. A dog misbehaves? Dump him and get another. Obviiously it's the dog's fault, right? We see plenty of that on YA! The owners I personally hate the most are the ones who come in with the 11 year old golden...sweet, gentle and confused dog. They say "the kids are grown and we want to travel" or worse "Johnny is going to college, It's his dog and he's not here to care for him anymore and we don't want to". This is just horrible, and this is what really happens at the shelter. Cute puppies -- if they ever show up -- are snapped up with a line out the door! The old golden, who was so faithful to his family will go straight to the gas chamber.

Overpopulation, it is actually a myth in most parts of the country. Lazy irresponsible owners....they live and breed.

This is not a breeder issue...this is an owner issue.
Rescue for years
Responsible breeders NEVER breed for money, they do it for the betterment of the breed. I have been breeding standard poodles for over 30 years and have never done it for money.
After all expenses if a responsible breeder makes a little or breaks even the great but to breed just for money then they become BYBers.
well they are LIARS;
my dad has his own kennel at bullyboiexpo.com
he breeds the dogs to make money, make better looking dogs,
and people want puppys.
