TRAINING DOGS TO FLUSH AND RETRIEVE =)?
I'm going to get my hunting permit and hunt bird game, fowl. I'm going to save up for a Purebred American Cocker Spaniel and I have a book that kind of explains it but I want more variety on how to train the dog to flush the bird/ retrieve the bird.
I want to know the difference and if you train a dog for that if you can still show him/her.
Is it safer/better to own a male or female cocker spaniel unfixed?
Is either gender of this breed better at learning or listening or at the job of flushing/retrieving the birds?
I want to learn as much as possible BEFORE i get the dog so I know what I'm doing right away.
I currently own two other dogs, a shiba inu/lab mix ;and a shetland sheepdog.
I have an acre yard and will exersise the dogs VERY often, everyday I will try to give AT LEAST 2 walks, 4 at most if possible and 1 extra walk on hunting days.

Any advice on anything that has to do with hunting bird game and teaching the dog to flush is GREATLY welcomed.
I want to be responsible while still having fun with what I want to do.
Thank You
=)

ALSO...: By show I mean showing in conformation.
I know the dog would be in Group 8 and the standards and everything already and I will start off in Jr. Showmanship
(any tips on gutting the bird and how or where to stuff and mount is welcomed and thank you)
I recommend you finding a training club in your area that does this sort of thing. Reading books and talking to people is good, but it is so much more beneficial to work with a professional that can show you exactly what to be doing and that can watch you and guide you and tell you specifically what you need to improve upon.
