My german shepherd follows me all over and destroys the house if i leave him on

he howls if left on his own too if i got him castrated would that help i cannot take much more please help i cant leave the house

Get a crate. Shut him in initially while your around. keep his bed there and he will soon adopt it as home. Graduate to shutting him in as soon as you go out. He'll feel safe, lie down and go to sleep.

You need a big crate for the dog and start training him ! If you neuter the dog, it will help you but first, he needs to understand that "you are the Alpha dog" !

Try obediance class and crate training, the sooner the better. Be consistante with training. Make sure your dog gets plenty of excersise this will help to. Getting the animal fixed will also help. Good luck .

Sound like separation anxiety, check that out on the internet, try getting him a teddy, as a comforter, it worked for mine. Good luck flower, please bare with him, they are one of the most loyal and loving breeds ever. Good luck xx

Unless you recently bought or rescued him you have trained your dog to have separation anxiety, my g/f did the same with a GSD we rescued but once placed in a more appropriate home he was fine with a little work. Your dog need training,less "mothering", lots of exercise, interactive toys and possible medications for awhile. Neutering, while not curing anything completely, can do nothing but help. It will calm him slightly plus keep him less interested if a local, 4 mile radius, female comes into heat. I have also used herbals such as Valerian and St. John's Wort to help, there are OTC stuff too. Taft has an animal behaviorist that does phone and email consults.
