My 6lb chihuahua ate M&Ms. Help!?
I left for work, my mom called and told me I had accidentally left a 7oz bag of M&Ms on my bed. My dog got onto my bed and ate them and puked all over the house. I imagine from the pure mass of the vomit that most of it is out. We are thinking she ate about 3oz tops of the M&Ms. Will she probably be okay? We don't really have money to spend on taking her to emergency pet care if she can make it fine at home. Should I just keep an eye on her or at what point should I definitely take her in?
Luckily I work for vet clinics and have the perfect answer, yes, she will be okay! LOL. Milk chocolate is not that bad for them, might make them a little nausiated, but not kill them or anything. Unless they ate their body weight in it, then that could be bad. Now dark chocolate is extremely bad for them. If she has vomited that many times there should be nothing to worry about. Thats what a vet would tell you to do anyway is give them a t spoon of peroxide to make them vomit the chocolate out.
She should be Ok, it takes a lot of pure chocolate to be really toxic to the dog, and it sounds like she threw most of it up. If you see any swelling, trouble breathing, or blood in the vomit I would take her to the vet, if not she will be fine.
In school to be small animal technician
M&Ms are not high quality chocolate, so they likely won't cause her too much harm. She also threw up a good amount, which is a good sign.

Keep an eye on her. If she starts to look sicker instead of showing improvement, it's time to go to the vet.
my aunts pincher ate a box of rochero truffles and he died hours later! you should take her to the vet asap. its not just a dog its family too! i dont understand why people purchase animals when they "dont have enough money" to care for them afterwards!
Milk chocolate toxicity for a 5pd- 2ounces
Dark chocolate toxicity for a 5pd- 0.7ounces

Please call your vet asap!
work in a vet clinic
yes she should be fine because she vomited most of it up. My chi mix ate three reese cups one time and he was fine, he didnt even vomit it up.
my old pets have done similar things but chocolate didnt seem to bother them. keep an eye on her and if she starts getting worse take her in.
mine had done something like that and she was fine she ate 2 quares off a candy bar and i freaked and i watched her , her heart rate went up but she was fine
She'll probably be ok. Is she acting normal? Eating, drinking, pooing as normal? My sister's bull terrier ate a few bags of Reese's pieces and he was fine.
just keep an eye on her. Her heart rate may go up a little bit but she will be just fine.
if she throws up or anything weird take her to the vet immediately!!!
