Why are people so quick to criticize?

Why are people so quick to criticize?
l certainly do not have much time om my hands but given my qualifications and experience am willing to share it with others no matter how trivial the question may be or even a little silly in that plain common sense should prevail. Why criticize someone because they cannot spell or have done perhaps the wrong thing as ,if they are asking for help, give it to them and avoid sitting in judgement especially when you do not have the tools of the trade to be a so called specialist in many cases. Are we really on this site to score points? Are we here to assist people with their issues, problems or concerns?it is true that sometimes young teens do ask questions so what? Are we going to determine what we are to answer given the age or experience or lack of experience of an asker?Recently a person asked a question seeking help and yes l tend to agree perhaps that person might have been a little more careful but why bother to answer the question id you are only going to hurt and shame the asker,it is not necessary and l think some people should give some thought before they type in answers.l have never blovked my e-mail as am willing to help all but after getiing an abusive one from one site member who thought l was talking about her regarding the criticism levelled at someone seeking assistance from us l may have to change my mind.Have we come so far that we cannot be diplomatic in some way and not get onto our hobby horse so to speak?l wiill bet anyone that half the community who do the above will have this question deleted, anyone willing to take the bet?
If someone is doing something harmful to a dog. (Indiscriminately breeding, not taking to the vet, etc) people have the right and should be outraged. No abusive behavior towards an animal should be condoned.
I hope it's not deleted, it brings up a valid point. . .People have a habit of constantly giving snide remarks and comments. It isn't nice, or polite. People have become really angry and rude for some weird reason. Maybe a bad economy is making them irritable.

Giving information to help the person in need is not condoning the behavior. When something is done out of ignorance why is it okay to not give information and attack the person instead of teach them?
"Are we here to assist people with their issues, problems or concerns?"

Well the purpose of this site is to share knowledge and real-life insight. The only time I'm handing out emotional support (encouraging the owner not to give up, etc.) is when I believe it will truly help the dog.

I can understand the spelling criticism. If someone can't spell, why does s/he insist on using a written forum? But I try not to get my blood pressure up over spelling errors. People make typos...

Young teens? The guidelines say Y!A is for ages 13 and up. No one is within their rights to object to teenagers being here. People younger than 13 should be removed, sorry it is for their own good.

The point I'm trying to make is that, if people use this site for what it was intended and stay within the Community Guidelines, it works just fine. There is, however, PLENTY of abuse of the site and a lot of that abuse is in the form of questions.

Next time some questioner here says "keep your opinions to yourself", I'll link this:

"What is Yahoo! Answers
Yahoo! Answers is a place where people ask and answer questions on any topic. Why not share your facts, opinions and personal experiences with the Yahoo! Answers community?"

------------------------------------

Yahoo! Answers is the largest knowledge-sharing community on the Web. It’s an online community where anyone can ask and answer questions on any topic. Yahoo! Answers connects people to the information they’re seeking with those who know it. Everyone has life experience and knowledge about something, and Yahoo! Answers provides a way for people to share their experience and insight.

because on yahoo answers they think they are "know it alls"
"anyone willing to take the bet?" What odds are you giving?
Sorry, but that's the chance you take when you post questions in an open forum.
If ya can't take the heat...

Spell checkers are easy to use, at least for commonly used words. If you want people to take the time to answer your question you can at least make an attempt to write it legibly.
Everyone's forte is not necessarily grammar but c'mon- make an effort!

That being said, I have noticed that some posters think their way is the only way & get really nasty when someone doesn't measure up to their standards.
Whatever...sometimes that's the only way people can feel good about themselves.

As far as I'm concerned, a much bigger problem is when folks give answers to questions that it's important to give the correct info to.
If they aren't qualified to answer they should skip it or take the points for admitting, "I don't know".
I see this all the time with medical questions about pets!

Stick with the questions you actually can answer knowledgably about or ones where an opinion is called for!!!
Retired tech, former humane officer, shelter manager....
And your question was ... ?

There is a grammatical construct called the "paragraph" ... perhaps you've heard of it? Or ... not.

I don't give a care to the points ... I'm here (in the "Dogs" section of Y!A) to help dogs ... sorry, I've got short patience with stupidity. If a question is valid, I will give a valid answer. A stupid question gets an equally stupid reply ... or maybe a report as violation.
I agree. I get tired of seeing peoples rude remarks! The spelling thing is very annoying. Anytime and asker misspells something there is ALWAYS a couple people that have to correct them and in a very rude manner. They're not here to win a spelling bee. They are here to try and get some help and or advice! I'm tired of the so called know it all's who think their way is the only way and god forbid you disagree with them. If someone is genuinely asking a question help them there is no need to be rude and inconsiderate. There are ways of voicing your opinion without belittling someone period! Some people just take it to far. There are a couple people who i have seen NOTHING but rude remarks from. I've voiced this in posts before and got tons of rate downs. Those are obviously the people who up on those so called high horses.

ADD: oh look a rate down....my point proven!!!
