A gun is a gun. Nothing you get is going to make that much of a difference unless it's literally a piece of crap.
No matter what kind of rifle you get, you're still limited to the small variety of ammunition that's offered to different guns.
Try something like...a .30-06 or a .308. They're decent guns and have plenty of power, and are basically two of the most common hunting rifles..

use your hands that's what they are for... using a weapon isn't cool! why don't you go to the hunting category this is the cat category!!!
It depends on what you are hunting with it. For big game you want a larger caliber (more power but generally kicks harder). The range at which you will be hunting also effects what gun you want to use. Certain calibers are too heavy for the grain used and and slow down/drop too much for long ranges. We need more information on what type of hunting you plan to do with the gun.

This isn't the right category for this to be in, it should be in the hunting category instead of the feline category unless your hunting larger cats like mountain lions and such.
- If so I recommend a nice old Remington 870 - 20 guage with double ought buck if your getting in a bit close in encounters.
