Is it safe to pet my cat?

Is it safe to pet my cat?
She just came back from surgery yesterday, and I came home and I stroked her. I think she was really happy to see me because she was purring louder than she ever had before and being unusally affectiante.

The vet said to keep her in a quiet place for 4 days to let her rest, and I can't remember if my mom said to also let her be alone. Regardless, she seems really happy to see me when I visit the laundry room (where she is currently) or do you think I should just leave her alone entirely?

P.S. She had something called a laseration? She probably got caught on something and cut her chest (she has mainly staples and is stitched I think)
I think it is safe to be with your cat. She probably wants your comfort, and love. Just don't pet her to rough. Hope this helps.
I think this is a time when your cat really needs you. the vet said to let her rest, and you can. she's probably very weak right now and needs someone by her side. So yeah, pet your cat, talk softly to her. give her the affection she wants :)
Of course you can pet her! Just be calm and quiet when you do so you don't get her excited. The last she probably wants to be is all alone after going through a traumatic experience. I would just sit down on the floor next to her and pet her and talk to her quietly for a little bit and let her go back to resting.
If you are careful and don't pick it up it should be ok for a visit to that room.
