How many times a day should I feed my kitten?
I have a kitten who is about 4 months old. He was being fed Purina Kitten Chow and we switched over to Science Diet Kitten Food. This will be his third week with us and he has gained so much weight. Like he almost looks 4 months older than he did when we adopted him. I feed him about 3 times a day with Science Diet. Am I feeding too many times? Also I just take a small handful to feed him,not too big.
I have raised 7 cats from kittens and each one was the same. In the morning I give them 1/2 a can of wet cat food and at night the other 1/2. During the day, there is always dry food.
I have 3 cats myself (mama and two five month old babies--all fixed) and we feed them 2 times a day, because we are not there usually during the middle of the day, plus they are outdoor cats so they can go wherever and hunt whatever they please.

I feed my kitties some dry food in the morning (although of course I will be feeding 3 cats much more than what you feed 1 cat) and then more dry food and a can of FancyFeast wet food at night.

Ask your vet, though. This is just my feeding habits for my kitties and this information is NOT recommended for your cats.
Feed him twice a day; once in the morning and once at night. I feed my cats about a 1/4 of a cup, maybe a little more. But since you have a kitten, try a bit less. This will also get him into an eating habit:)
I also have problems with an over weight cat (13lb) and two more that are on their way. So I started them on Spa Select by Blue for over weight cats; some people say that it does not matter what type of food you feed your animals but it does. The recommended daily feeding (on the bag) is 5-9 lbs are supposed to get 1/4-1/2 cups per day only once. 10-14 lbs are supposed to get 1/2-1 cups per day. I hope this helps. Good luck!
