He's a year old. About 2 weeks into being neutered and just won't calm down..except when he's sleeping.
& He absolutely won't let me brush him. It's a little furstrating (get it, "fur"strating.) that he wants me to chase him around the house just to get all these shedding hairs off of him.
I know he thinks its a game but I feel like he also just doesnt want to be brushed. He used to LOVE being brushed as a kitten. So, those of you that have raised your cat from a kitten, did yours ever just chill out eventually? I defend my kitty because they call him "special" but deep down I really don't see too many cats as hyper as mine.
Also, the brush isnt hard. It's a rubber brush w rubber bristles and I used it on my arm so I don't think it's hurting him at all.

I don't know...maybe I'm different. But I love my crazy kitties. They make me laugh. He will slow down, just hope not too much. That's one of the things we love about cats. All my cats have been brushed since they were kittens. But I don't chase them down. I just bring it out and they come to me. Maybe it is the game thing that he's playing. Try bringing the brush out, maybe try to get one stroke in, if he runs away, don't chase him, put the brush down. If he comes back, pick up the brush and try again. I take it you only have the one cat. So, making him jealous by brushing the other won't work. I'm not really sure what to tell you because all my cats love being brushed. It's like getting your back scratched. The brush I use has metal bristles. Maybe the rubber pulls the fur instead of brushing it and scratching their backs. I'm just throwing out ideas here. Hope something in there helps.
It takes about 6 weeks for the hormones to leave his body, and then he will start to calm down, and as he gets older, too.
I have a Siamese cat who is 6
