My parents have this one annoying cat that meows constantly. It doesn't meow until you come up to it.
My parents don't really have the money to take it to the vet to make sure it isn't doing it for a reason and I don't really either since I already have five cats.
I thought about taking it to the Humane Society but my mom said that once they tried to put it in a carrier it freaked out...
I volunteer at the Humane Society and I know they usually put those kinds of cats down.
It's a very friendly kitty and I wouldn't mind keeping her maybe when our lease ends and we have a bigger place
but I don't know what to do until then (ends Oct 1st).
I really don't want my parents to dump her at the humane society but I guess they can't do that anyway since they don't have a carrier or anything to put her in. lol.
I'm pretty stumped.

I doubt there is anything that the vet can do for the meowing. While it would need vaccinations, that's all a vet can really do.
The kitty is meowing when you walk up because it is starved for affection, more than likely. I'm 34, and have had multiple cats my whole life, and many of them were vocal in this manner. There are ways to get it into a carrier (such as tempt it with food left in the carrier)...but you could use this as a method of carrier training so that she/he would be ready to be transported to a vet when money is available...or to make the kitty more adoptable.

I think you parents' cat is afraid of people.
First of all, they don't put cats down at the Humane Society for MEOWING. Second of all, it sounds like you just have a chatty cat on your hands. Many people *love* chatty kitties. Try to keep the cat if you can, and perhaps it just needs more attention or playtime to tire it out than your other cats. It doesn't sound like there is a problem if the cat is only meowing if approached. It probably just likes people wand want s to talk to you. That a blessing!
