I have two new kittens who I have trained to use the litter box and eat real food in this first week together. However, every night when I am already asleep one of the kittens always pees in the bed usually right where I am. Once I found myself unable to sleep and I caught her getting ready to go so I swatted her head and put her on the floor. Immediately she ran to the litter box. Why didnt she do that in the first place? Before answering you must know that leaving my bedroom door closed is not an option because I have no door, just a curtain. And I am not going to stay up all night just to wait for her to try to go to the potty in the bed. Can anyone help me make her stop? If she cant stop I wont be able to keep her and her sister would be sad.
That really depends on how old they are. If they are extremely young, they might have woke up and had one of those "oh no!" moments, where they didnt think they could get to the box. Also, how far away is the box from your bed? She could also just be lost in such a large (for her) place. That happens a lot with new kittens in a new home, expecially when young.
sounds like she is marking her territory and it's time to get her fixed, clean off all the bedding and the mattress it's self and be ready to stop the behavior when she comes near the bed, or else you are going to have one smelly bed and have to keep replacing it over and over again.
you might have to retrain her
.put her in the litter box twice and see if it makes a diffrence if not mabye you can put a nother litter box in youre room

Give it some time Jess. They are only babies.
Would you expect a human infant to be potty-trained after a week or so?

train her!!!!!!!!
Get the kittens out of your bed and make them a bed closer to the litter box. You've only had them a week and that is not enough time for them to be fully trained. They are just babies and trying to get it right; you have to do your part. You shouldn't have swatted the kitten on the head. DID IT EVER OCCUR TO YOU THAT THE KITTENS MAY BE AFRAID TO JUMP OFF THE BED? They are tiny and the bed looks really high to them. Just another reason to make them a bed near the litter box. I don't know who needs training the most, you or the kittens.
