I\'m having trouble finding a home for my cat?

I'm having trouble finding a home for my cat?
Her name is Sugar. She is black and white, two years old and pregnant. She managed to get out of the house one morning and got tangled up with one of the local strays. I was trying to find her a home before I noticed she was pregnant, but now it's just that much more difficult. I've called everywhere in town and they either don't have the room for her or will end up killing her and the babies. Is there anyone in or near the Paragould, Arkansas area that knows someone thats willing to take her in? It doesn't have to be a person, it can be a shelter. I just don't want to have to put her down. I'd keep her, but I already have eight cats because of her last litter.
I commend you for trying to save as many cats as you can. That's what got us into trouble ~ we now have nine indoor cats (plus one or two outdoor strays we feed) and are scrambling to get the youngest one spayed after she snuck ... snook? sneaked? after she got out and slutted it up with the local boys. So no lecture from me :o)

Try the FreeCycle group. They have a number of Yahoo Groups set up for many various regions, and their purpose is to help people trade or give away items that would otherwise be junked.

Some items are new and still in the original package, some are used and in need of repair. And then some are furry, some are pregnant, and some are married (lol). Everything from baby clothes to toys to appliances to cars gets moved there. Some people get items just to sell them on eBay, others get items because they seriously need them. It's just that sort of thing.

Check Yahoo Groups to see if there's one that covers your area and join, then offer your kitty and pray that some Michael Vick jackass doesn't get her to use as a dog training tool (it happens, and it makes me vomit). Trust your instincts, and I wish you the best of luck.

<edit> Wow. It's nauseating how many self-righteous "cat lovers" jumped in here to lecture, insult, and degrade Faerychick for trying to help when her only crime is not being able to afford the cost of spaying, but offer absolutely NO useful suggestions whatsoever (and thumbs-down people who do offer useful suggestions). Each & everyone of you people (you know who you are) are despicable trolls.

Faerychick clearly knows she's in over her head and is trying to do the best she can for Sugar, and all you can do is criticize? You should be ashamed of yourselves! Money doesn't grow on trees, and we all have different levels of financial need. By the same token, not everyone who cares about cats can afford to trot off to the vet to spay or neuter every stray that comes to their door, and not everyone has the heart to say "no" to a stray.

Faerychick should be commended for doing everything within her power to help, not criticized by a bunch of "better than you" arrogant fools for not measuring up to your own twisted perception of a cat lover. If you can't offer any useful advice, then keep your mouths shut and mind your own business.
YOU are an irresponsible pet owner! You didn't learn after the first time she got pregnant? You should have your pets spayed! Of course you can't find a home for them, the shelters are already overloaded with pets from people who wanted to keep them but couldn't because of financial problems! If you TRULY cared about your pets you would have had them spayed right away! If you can't properly take care of your pets then you shouldn't have any!
We're not hateful people. We just hear this ALL the time. You had the right intentions but next time get the cat fixed ASAP and charge the new owners an adoption fee. Cat multiply fast.

There's probably not much you can do. Take her to the vet to have her spayed. At least then those kittens won't come into a world where they're not wanted. IT'll increase mom cat's chances at finding a home.

Othewise get on catster.com someone there maybe able to find a rescue, sanctuary, or person that can takehr.
ok ouch whats the deal she got out it happens sometimes hun if I lived near you I would take her in a heart beat try the anti cruelty society they will try to fined a home for her only if you lived in michigan or even a no kill shelter

these are two that I could find the first is a no kill shelter

v feel free to e-mail me if any questions
What exactly did you think was going to happen when you didn't get her fixed after the first litter? You caused this mess with your own irresponsibility.

See if you can get the vet to abort the babies, and get your cat fixed.
Don't worry why don't you put posters on billboards and things asking if people could rehome Sugar? But you should really remove the kittens and get her spayed once and for all, it's all for the best.
Good luck!
wow! ever hear the term "white trash"? it seriously applies.u let ur pets over-breed,then kill them.too many cats in ur single wide? ur own fault! now they'll die because u are irresponsible.nice going, daisie mae.....
well you should of taken more care and got her fixed!! your an irrasponsible owner and have to look after your mistakes !!
why didnt you just get her fixed so she wouldnt get pregnant again?
BAD BAD BAD
Love how you're playing the victim here and that we should feel sorry for you when this was ENTIRELY YOUR FAULT. She "managed to get out of the house and got tangled up". Please. Why did you not bother to get her spayed? And now you want to hand off the responsibility and expense of her and a litter of kittens to someone else? And even worse - kittens that may end up with Feline Leukemia since your cat mated with a stray?

Take her to the vet and have her spayed. They'll remove the kitten embryos when they remove her uterus. Don't want to "kill the kittens"? Well if these kittens are born and go to homes that's that many more homes that won't adopt from your local shelter. So those animals will be PUT TO DEATH because of you. Are you really that selfish that you think your kittens should live and the others should die?

I do hope your other EIGHT cats are spayed and neutered. Aw, POOR you with all those cats. No, poor cats for being owned by such an irresponsible and clueless owner! Shame on you.
Nobody ever wants their pet put down but they don't do anything (like have their pets fixed) to keep the shelters from being so full they have to kill them. Have the cat spayed before she has this litter. A competent vet will do it. At least then you'll only have her life to save. If you're worried about killing the kittens, they'll probably die in a shelter anyway so aborting them before they're born will be much kinder. Don't give excuses that you can't afford it. I have 8 rescued cats and am unemployed and I still manage to take care of them. It's a matter of priority. Sell something, pawn something, borrow the money, or whatever, just do it.

In the future, don't take in animals you can't afford. You aren't helping them by putting them in situations like this. It is sad that shelters have to kill innocent animals but until people get responsible and realize cats don't need to have litters and that every litter brought into the world adds to the problem, it won't stop.
Irresponsible, inexcusable, unforgivable, and disgusting behavior!

1 - you should have had her spayed when she was young, before the first litter.

2 - you should have had her spayed after the first litter was weaned

3 - you should have her spayed now to prevent the second litter.

Now she pregnant again and you want to get rid of her!

How dare you behave like this.

You knew the cat could get pregnant - she already had one litter (or was it more than one?) and yet you did not have her spayed.

Now that she is pregnant - due to your irresponsible actions - you want to get rid of her?????

If this is true, you should not have ANY cats or other animals.

If this is a troll trying to stir things up - look out, someone may report you rather than take the time to reply to you.

As to finding homes - there are so many unwanted cats at shelters that there is little hope that you'll find homes for you cat and her kittens.

If you turn her in, it is likely she will be killed - at just about any shelter, they are all overflowing.

You should have thought about all of this before you let her get pregnant again, accident or not. Had you spayed her, she would not now be pregnant and you won't want to get rid of her.

You could have had her spayed before or after the first litter but you didn't.

Now, you don't want the cat because she is pregnant again????

Irresponsible!

If you do find a home for her, see if they will take the rest of your cats (and dogs and any other animals you have) - almost anywhere would be better than with you - which animal are you going to want to get rid of next?
Hi, Im in arkansas as well, and I have noticed that around the Petco and Petsmart places in the area, sometimes there are adoption mobiles. I dont know how they work out here, but perhaps you could check with Petco or Petsmart and see if they can give you contact info? My friend in california had a kitten she was adopting out and she took it to one of those places and that same day she was filling out the papers, a lady saw her and fell in love with the kitten and took her home. Maybe this will help you.

Sorry you have to wade through tons of comments from people being pricks.
