My cat just got in a fight and I'm worried....?
I was falling asleep and all of a sudden I heard my cat scream outside. And I mean SCREAM. I've seen my cat and dog fight before, but this was unbelievable. It was painful to just hear it. Anyways, I went outside looking for him, and after about 10 minutes, I found him. I tried to pick him up to bring him in the house, but when I tried, he yelped in pain. So I just lead him to the house. He immediately went and hid. So I assumed he was very frightened. I let him kind of just relax and cool down for about 15 minutes or so, and then examined him to make sure he was okay. He was getting angry at me when I started petting him. I'm not quite sure whether that was because he was extremely scared or was in pain. I woke my Dad up, and he's convinced that he's okay, but I'm a wreck now. I don't know what it was that attacked him. I asked my Dad if we can bring it to the vet in the morning to at least get checked out, but he said no because we don't (and we honestly don't) have any money right now. We're undergoing a lot of financial problems. My cat is hiding somewhere now, and I'm just really concerned. I have no clue WHERE on his body he may be hurt, and he doesn't want me finding out obviously. Any ideas of what I should do?

A very informative website you can also get much information in website
Hopefully he's just bruised. But he could have internal bleeding. Watch him closely, if he stops eating, drinking or isn't using his litter box regularly, get him to a vet as soon as possible. Keep him warm. If you have a thermometer, take his temperature, kitty temps are about 101-102.5.

Call your local veterinarian in the morning, and see if they have any other suggestions as well. Keep him warm for the night, and close, so you know what exactly is happening when you call them.

I'm very sorry to hear about your cat. If you have a shelter or humane society near bye. Find out if they offer any kind of assistance with medical care for your cat. Many shelters and humane societies have programs that help people with the cost of pet care. They usually will pay most or all of the cost for treatment. Just explain to them what happened and tell them that your dad can't afford medical help right now.

In the mean time, keep the cat inside for a while. Don't bother him, he's shaken up pretty badly over what happened to him. Let him be and I'm sure when he feels better he will be out to see you.

Good luck I hope everything will be better for your cat.

Since you have not seen any major scratches or blood I would not get to worried yet. Give your cat time to calm down he may just be angry or frightened right now or is he neutered? If not there may be another reason he is mad maybe his attempts with a female did not go well and that can make a male cat real moody epically if another male cat got there first. You know females try to fight the males off also so it may not have been the kind of fight you thought it was. Wait it out and see tomorrow I bet kitty will be fine. If not there are vets on the internet that will take care of hurt animals for free.I found one that did surgery on my daughters cat.Like for people with financial hardship cases as long as you can verify your situation. Good Luck
