I am moderately allergic to cats, but I refuse to get rid of my cats or make them outdoor cats in order to lessen my misery. I have 2 indoor kittys, a male and a female, and something accured to me the other day when I was gromming my male cat. I feed my horse oil to improve the condition of her skin, so is there a way I could do something like that to lessen the amount of dander my cat has?

Yes a better quality of food & adding omega 3 like fish oil if needed. Brushing is one of the best ways even for short haired cats. Using a zoom groom for cats will help a lot & they love it. It is a rubber brush that you can buy on-line or like at Petsmart for $9 or less. Using it esp. before a bath will also make a big difference in removing hair & dander. Good for you for keeping your pets instead of dumping like so many these days.
groomer
You could try it. It wouldn't hurt them in any way. Have you tried combing them? Combs can get down to the dander better than brushes. You don't need a fancy cat comb either. Any old ordinary comb would do.

i used to work at the vet and some people would bring their cats in for grooming(well, some cats were big and strong, some owners were elderly people) and also cats would get a bath.
yes, cats can be washed, with a good quality shampoo(for cats/dogs)
some cats hate having a bath and some were just fine.
after the bath, the cat got another grooming/brushing:more loose hair was out!cats groom themselves and swallow quite a bit of hair.
grooming+bathing reduces hairball hacking and vomiting.
i have 2 dogs,i give them omega 3-6-9 oil,mix it into their food.
they love it(smells like fish)
