4 week old baby kitten! Easyy 10 points!?
Hey all.
Soo. In about 3 weeks I am bringing home a beautiful four week old kitten. I know this is VERY young however I am adopting her from the vet and since the mother is a ferrel they said she needs to be separated early. Anyway. Since she is so young are there any feeding instructions, toys she shouldn't play with etc..?

Also, I have a Dog [6 years old] and 2 burmese cats [about 4] how can I make her transition into an animal filled house smooth? How can I get the other pets to like her? Thanks!
I got my cat at 3 weeks. Will he be 7 weeks in 3 weeks? If so, that's fine.

If she's going to be 4 weeks, just keep in mind she will not be fully weaned, and not do things like a normal cat, and be more humanized.

She will most likely be able to use a litter box, but might need help feeding with an eye dropper.

Cause she is so young the pets will be ok. Just make sure they don't attack her.
Your kitten will need to stay in a "nursery" for a couple of weeks at least. The other animals need a chance to used to her scent before face to face introductions are made. Start with the friendliest of your pets and have short, supervised visits. As things progress you can allow more time. Work in visits with the rest of your pets till everyone is getting along. There will be hissing and hurt feelings from your adult cats. If your dog is cat tolerant, there shouldn't be a problem unless your dog is used to roughhousing with the grown cats. This kitten will be tiny and your dog (and the other cats) might not know his own strength if he decides to play with the kitten.

In the nursery, have a shallow pan for litter (I like the foil cake pans). Use non-clumping clay litter. Kittens taste everything and clumping litter can cause intestinal blockages if ingested. Have water and kitten food available for the kitten. At 4 weeks she should be eating solid food but may also need a couple of bottle feedings per day as well. Don't give her any yarn to play with. The fibers can be ingested and the kitten could get a blockage from it. Don't give any sharp objects like bread ties, etc either. Make sure to spend plenty of time with her so she gets the socialization she needs.

You'll need lots of patience but it can be a rewarding experience raising a young kitten . Hope you enjoy her.
keep her safe away from all your other pets, like in a closet or under the bed and make sure they can get into the room for maybe a week or more as she is really young, and by that time the rest of your pet will have picked up her sent and gotten used to it through the door air way....then just open the door and watch them as they are curious they will want to meet...let them find each other slowly under your supervision. Make sure to treat them fairly so at least they wont be jealous. Keep a close eye on them for a while.....good luck!
Best thing i suggest is Royal Canin for baby cats, they are specially formulated for very young cats.

A 4 week old kitten will have -0- immune system of its own & minimal training from its mother.

Do not allow access to more than 1 room until 100% certain it is using the litter box. If you are *very* lucky, the older cats will adopt & clean/teach the new kid for you.
breeding/showing purebred cats since 1972
of course feed it cat food....
and cats like to play with a yarn ball..
since you said you had a dog..
well you can train you dog to like you caat..
buy a toy cat and put it in front of the dog everytime and teach
the dog not to eat the cat...
