i just got a 6 month old male parakeet. he does not chirp at all. it has been over 24 hours and i am concerned that my little guy is not going to ever be able to talk? how long until he adjusts to his new home? i read information on how to train him to talk but i feel like he should be chirping before learning to talk!
He may just be nervous and scared, and if he is the only one in the cage, he more than likely feels lonely and out of place with no one to "console" him that everything will be ok
Just give him about 2 or 3 days. He will start being happy after a bit, just give him some space. If you decide to train him, being gentle with him will encourage him to start being happy. Try not to rush or scare him by handling him wildly and grabbing him every other second.
But like I said, he should be good in another day or two.
