she is a two year old buff orpington, and was perfectly fine yesterday, running around the yard and making plenty of noise in the morning just as she usually does. However, this morning when we went to let them out of their coop she was lying on the bottom floor of the coop and she wouldn't leave with the other birds. Usually she is at the front of the door and trying to get out in the morning.
she is cooing softly, but other than that doesn't make much noise.
we found her sitting under out fort and my dad said she had been their at lunch so she sat there at least six hours. I put her in the coop and she stood for ten minutes drinking her water, but her legs looked stiff and when she tried to walk she collapsed. She hasn't stood since and sits on her butt with her legs out in front instead of sitting on her legs.
is it maerack's? if so, how could she have gotten it if the other chickens don't have it?
any help is appreciated. we lost another one last winter to a respiratory illness. we're very eager to help daisy out.

I raise Buff Orphington's. I lost one this past summer, she had the same symptoms. I never did figure out why she died. The rest of my flock was fine though. So just a heads up, she probably won't make it. Sorry I can't be of more help.
There is a treatment for Maerack. Talk to a vet.
