An African Grey. They are very smart and have a large vocabulary.
They dance and sing and whistle and are very entertaining.
They are great!
I have one! You should look it up and consider getting one!
We have cats and a chihuahua and he calls their names and whistles and tells them to come here. and it messes with them. so funny!

Well it depends on how much you are willing to pay. If you are on a budget a cockatiel might be suitable as they are capable of talking. If you are willing to spend more, you could consider purchasing a African Grey Parrot, a conure, Macaw, or a cockatoo. The best talking bird is the Mynah bird which is actually not a parrot. They are of course extremely expensive.
Cockatiels are able to talk, but only the males. They may be difficult to teach but you can record a phrase and have it play in a loop to help them learn. They are cheap birds and are good survivors. I had one at the same time as 2 dogs a cat and many other small animals and the bird had no problem flying around the house. The dogs ignored it and the cat could not catch it and stopped trying. However, you may want to consider having its wings clipped.
Parots on the other hand are larger birds, and are slightly easier to train to speak. They are expensive and although they live longer, they are not always as resistant to disease (depending on where you live). They may also present a problem because being larger, they are more able to inflict damage on people if they bite.
I would advise going to a local exotic bird store or pet store and talking to someone with more experience.
Good luck!
