I just got a conure (bird) how can I tell if its a male or female?
I just brought home a Cinnamon green cheeked conure, and I don't know if its male or female. Are there any ways I can tell without taking it to an expert and getting charged for it?
This might help you out.

Awesome! I have two green cheek conures. You can take it to a vet or a breeder to get the DNA done on it. It only costs about $26 to find out. I havent "sexed" my birds yet....its up to you. The only way to tell is to get the DNA done by a breeder/vet.
Hope this helps/
Birds have sex organs like every other animal on Earth, the females organs and males organs are sightly different though.

In the orifice if you cause the inside to protrude by spreading and pressing on it you will be able to see the male penis or the females parts. You will know the difference for sure there is no question. Conure have basically the same sex organs as chickens so this is how you sex chickens if it isn't evident by their neck frills.
