Cockatiel Mating/ MATE runnaway?

Cockatiel Mating/ MATE runnaway?
I had a pair of cockatiels sitting on 3 eggs and the male flew away, the female is still sitting on the eggs..is it likey she will be able to hatch them?? And... will I be able to mate another male to the female (I've hear they mate for life)???
The mate for life thing is actually at the discretion of the bird. Some are very loyal, but some will take a new mate if theirs is gone. One of my cockatiels has a beautiful little mate who he has had sex with and had eggs with, but every time we let our birds out for exercise, that male will chase after a different female and leave his mate all alone.

One of my other birds flew away once, his mate had eggs at the time. We got the male back. A very nice man found the bird and caught him. That man had two female cockatiels and when we went to pick our male up, he didn't seem to want to leave the two girls.

Some birds are extremely loyal though. A friend of my mom's had a pair of cockatiels. The female accidently flew away and the male stopped eating. He eventually died of heartbreak. Very sad.

The chances of the eggs hatching is really dependent on how much she sits on them. Without the male there to take shifts, she may not be able to sit on them enough and if they hatch, she may not be able to feed them enough without help. Or she might risk her health in order to keep them warm, so watch to be sure she is eating and sleeping.
Personal Experience
If a male and female were sitting on the egg well it's possible that they will hatch! If a male and female mate well the will stay with each other for ever!
