Can parakeet birds eat cockatiel food????? It's the fruit and honey bars...?
I got the wrong kind of bars. Can my parakeet eat it?
They can, if they have to. I've had to do that in a pinch with my lovebirds until payday. They will just pick and choose what they want. And make sure not to feed it to them for too long!
*A word of advice - you should splurge on getting a bag of mash for your buddies. It is far more beneficial to your bird's lives and can even extend their lives by years! It's like, $30 bucks for a medium sized bag and will last you quite a long time. Feeding your birds a diet of seeds is like feeding them a diet of straight junk food. When I switched I noticed a significant change in both the birds' health and coat.
Anyways...most bird food has the basic staples in it, it's the birds who will choose what to eat out of it.
My own experience from the past 7 years with my little buddies...
Yes they can ,they are ideal for your birds, after all both will eat the same seed, the only difference is Parakeet mix contains Sunflower seed but Budgies will eat it.

Your birds will be quite happy to feed on your honey bars and they will do them good.

As Parrakeet's eat basically the same food(mixed seeds Millets Canary etc).

As a vet I do not recommend Mash or Pellets to feed Parakeets on

Pellets consist of lots of contents that No bird would eat normally.such as waste seed husk ,Fish meal,by products from slaughtered animals.(These have been responsible for various diseases in birds and poultry.)

Having bred birds of Various species over 45 years I have Never used artificial foods, give them natural foods such as seed ,green vegetables and fruit such as Apple ,Pear,Broccoli ,Kale etc.

Don't forgett Cuttle-bone.

Yah your parakeet can eat it! Because I done the same thing with my cockatiel but it went ok! If my cockatiel eats parakeet seeds so can yours try it! But go to this web site http://www.cockatielcottage.net/ and email them because they have a parakeet too they will tell you all about it!
