Canary breeding help, please?
I have a male canary in a large cage and a female in a small one. they like each other (saw the signs) and i want to breed them. What should i do if i need the hen to nest in the large cage? If i switched the birds and let the hen prepare the nest in the large cage and put the male in the small one, would that confuse them? should i keep them or switch them or is it okay if she nests in the small cage?
what i would do is put them in the same cage =]
I breed canaries and have a male and two females in one large cage.

I would put a cuttle bone near a perch in the large cage, some shredded paper and some bright greens such as kale or carrot tops in the cage or clipped onto the side. Then put the female in with the male. She and he will see it as a 'party' and like each other even better.

Wait a few weeks, then introduce a nest and lots of dried grass or healthy weeds and let nature take it's course. Good luck.

Oh, do not forget crushed with the shell, hard boiled eggs - a half a day once she begins to lay.
